“Pictures, or it didn’t happen” is a phrase that has sneaked its way into my subconscious over the past few years and, like a piece of corn stuck in my teeth, it won’t be dislodged. Social media has introduced a new dimension to any group occasion, where getting an Insta-worthy snap is as crucial as wearing the right outfit. I do worry about my need to get a picture. Like a smoker itching for a fix, I spend the first hour of most parties frantically preoccupied by how I’m going to get a suitable snap to mark the night. Who will take it and will they understand I need multiple options and angles? What should my background be, and where are the flower walls, like at Kim and Kanye’s wedding, when you need them?
