Sunday Times Style Cover Story: Interview with Adwoa Aboah

Social media can make you feel a deep connection to strangers. When I went to interview the British model Adwoa Aboah, 25, I already felt she occupied an important role in my life. Last year, as a 20-year-old coming out of my teenage years filled with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, I watched a 13-minute video of the then relatively unknown model stripping down to her underwear as she talked about her own struggles with addiction and mental health, and I sobbed like a baby. Her honesty was raw, and her determination to recover made it feel worth striving for. She wasn’t saying she had the answers; she was just telling the truth and sharing her story, and it made me feel understood in a way that little else had.

You can read my full interview with the amazing Adwoa here.
