As a longtime believer that the internet is a positive, beautiful space, I find social-media summer can make it hard to maintain conviction. The online holiday season seems to begin in April and extends, in an achingly long and drawn-out montage of bikinis, cocktails and toes in the sand, all the way until mid-September, when someone sends out the first shocked tweet that Christmas decorations are already in stores and the endless summer is officially over.
